Nebraska vs Oklahoma Pre-Game

Nebraska has season determining game this week against a very talented #4Oklahoma team. The first disadvantage NU faces is that the rivalry game is in Norman. Oklahoma is a very talented team especially offensively, but they are beatable. The defense isn't that impressive, i think the Kansas game illustrates that. Kansas was able to stay in the game until the end of the second half, they were able to put up over 30 points and a ton of yards against OU's "D". With a few defensive problems and the loss of Ryan Reynolds i feel the OU is vulnerable to the Skers offense. I feel this game will be a higher scoring game that is going to be decided by who's defense can find away to stop each others offense. NU needs to continue with no turnovers and cut down on letting the opposing team have those big plays. Go Big Red lets get the upset and take over the Big 12 North or at least keep our chances alive!

Nebraska wins 35-31

Neb vs Baylor Final

I know all the attention in set to next weeks big game against OU but lets take a look at the Baylor game. After the F-16's flew over and the crowd was getting pumped up that's when I knew it was game time in Lincoln. Nebraska came out fired up and took an early lead, but was shortly answered by Baylor. Going into half time I was discouraged to see the Huskers trailing 20-17. The "D" was the thing that worried me during the first half giving up a few big runs by Baylor's half back and their super fast QB Robert Griffin. I couldn't believe that Baylor was able to do that to us in the first half, but Bo must have set them strait at half because the defense shut them down the whole second half. The win over Baylor was an interesting one, with an NU blocked kick, a Safety, and a lot excellent hits in Baylor's back field, probably the most impressive being the massive hit dealt by Skers Pierre Allen that resulted in a 7 yard loss.

Ganz went 46-32 with no interceptions 3 TD's and 336 total passing. Nate Swift lead receiving with 11 catches for 121 yards and 2 TD's, the most impressive statistic about Swifts day being the record breaking TD catch that put him above NU's legendary Johnny Rogers for most receptions in school history. Lucky lead rushing with 16 touches gaining 85 yards, Lucky also had a few impressive catches resulting in 83 yards.

Leading the skers defense was Larry Asante with a total of 7 tackles and 1 sack. Suh also had 7 total tackles.

Overall the Huskers did what they had to do t get the win and push the record to 5-3 and keeping the big 12 north title in reach.

Nebraska vs Baylor

The Skers are coming off a big win over Iowa State and i think that they are going to roll right through Baylor as well! The game plan should be similar to the ISU game, the Skers need to: be in control, run the ball effectively to set up the pass, the "O" line needs to protect Ganz, and the "D" needs to shut the Bears down! The Baylor Bears have played a few good teams and have played some of these teams well, so lets not underestimate them and go out there and hit them in the mouth right of the bat! Let me know what you think about the outcome!!!

Huskers win 42-14

Iowa State Game Result

Alright well this is just what the Skers needed! A controlled well defended 35-7 win over the cyclones! The "D" woke up considerably, the running game wasn't bad and Nate Swift got the ball, and this is exactly what the Huskers needed to do to get the much needed win ad to turn this season around. The Huskers put over 200 yards on the ground, both Lucky and Casttille put up over 70 yards a piece. Ganz was 27-37 passing with no interceptions totaling 328 yards through the air; 117 of those passing yards went in Nate Swift's direction. The Huskers are continuing to cut down on penalties which was a much needed change from previous weeks. Over all the Nebraska played a well disciplined and controlled game resulting into a win.

Iowa State Game

Alright this weekend we have Iowa State. Bo and the Huskers cant take the Cyclones for granted! The are tough team that if shows up to play they can turn some heads and make some big game changing plays! I dont think thats going to happen but its key to keep in mind in the preperation for this game! Nebraska wins this game in good fashion if the whole Husker team shows up to play and if: Ganz has time to throw the ball (lets go "O" line), the defense puts on a hitting clinic, the running game finds itself and the backs fight for those extra yards (thats you #5), and last but not least the ball finds its way in the direction of Nate Swift!!

Cornhuskers win 35-21

Let me know what your prediction is!?!

Go Huskers!!!

Previous Posts:

Unfortunately the Blogger locked the blog and all previous posts were deleted. Anyone following knows the story behind the previous 5 games. The Huskers start off 3-0 until they ran in V-Tech and lost a close game that probably should have been won by Nebraska. The O-line and the defense didn't show up until the 4th quarter when the Skers started to make their comeback. Nate Swift started the came back charge for the Huskers with a punt return that ended up being the 4th longest in school history. Late in the fourth Ganz lead a strong touchdown drive that ended in the end zone in the hands of Todd Peterson leaving the Huskers only a few points behind and time to win the game. The defense held V-Tech to what everyone thought was going to be a punt situation when the sker's Suh had a controversial late hit penalty that kept V-Tech alive! After a few more penalties V-Tech put the ball in the end zone again and that pretty much ended the game.

Game 5 brought #5 Mizzou to Lincoln. The Huskers knew Missouri was going to be a tough team lead by one hell of a quarter back Chase Daniel and plenty of other offensive weapons. When the game started the Tigers stormed down and put it in the end zone. Nebraska answered right back and no problem putting the ball in the end zone but unlike Mizzou, Nebraska didn't find the scoreboard again until the end of the second when they managed a to put up a field goal. We all the game was a blow out and I credit the problems to a defense that couldn't stop anything and a O-line that could have been blown over by a 10mph wind! I will credit Bo and the Skers for not quiting, after the being blown out of the water, in the final seconds Nebraska scored another touchdown when everyone even the commentators thought they would just let the time run out.

Now for Game 6, the huskers go on the road to match up with a talented #7 Texas Tech team. What a wild finish huh? The interception at the end of the game was a little bit of a disappointment but i think it in no way overwhelms the play of the huskers throughout the whole game! Scoreless in the first, putting 7 on the board in the second, 3 in the third, and an astonishing 21 points in the fourth to put the game in OT. Tieing up the game was a 17 yard TD pass from Joe Ganz to Todd Peterson.
Then came the OT Texas Tech goes and scores and MISSES the extra point leaving it up to the Huskers to go down and score and put this upset away. Unfortunately Ganz tossed an interception to end the game. But looking at the stats NU should have took the game, the skers controlled the ball twice as long as Texas Tech. The Huskers had 29 first downs opposed to TT's 16 nearly 100 more passing yards and beat TT on total yards gained. The score doesn't show it but on paper the Huskers beat Tech to bad whats on paper doesn't count for much!

Over all good game and lets turn this into a turning point in the season for the Husker Nation!!
