The Word on the Huskers Bowl Bid
I just received this information a little bit ago from a another Husker forum. The word is that Nebraska will be playing Clemson in the Gator Bowl on January 1st! Go Big Red!!!
The word on Cody Glenn
I know this might not be official but word I have received on Nebraska's defensive star Cody Glenn is that Bo suspended him indefinitely due to Cody's conduct regarding the illegal selling of tickets. The players and the University receive tickets to each game to give to friends and family so they can come to the game and watch their players. This is a privilege and not an opportunity for players to sell the tickets for a profit and this is understood by every player on the team. Word has it that Cody Glenn violated this and was selling the tickets to make money and was caught and it was brought to coaches attention. This is a huge disappointment to me because Cody Glenn was a huge asset to the defense and I really enjoyed watching develop this year but rules are rules!
Nebraska vs Colorado Post Game
What a game!! I was unable to make it to the game even though I had tickets, but due to the holiday. But, I was able to watch the game with friends and family.
I was very disappointed with the beginning of the first quarter when Nebraska gave up two unanswered TD's to Colorado. Both of the TD's were total blown coverages by the Husker's secondary. But, Nebraska came back and didnt let it get out of hand. They woke up and started playing like they were the Buffs in Lincoln. I'd have to say i thought the overall play was sloppy but they did what they had to do. If you can find some highlights you'll see some of the intensity the Skers were playing with. There was some trash talking at the end of plays, but that's not it the D was hitting hard and no matter what happened they jut didn't quit, it got me so fired up!
Lets talk about the end of the game. Its 31-30 Colorado and Nebraska faces 4rth and 25 yards to gain with a 1:40 left in the fourth quarter. I didn't know what they were going to do. I thought if Bo sent the field goal unit out there they would fake it, i thought no way they were going to try a 57 yarder to set the stage for the outcome. And as we all know Bo sent the field goal unit out their. Everyone out of their chair and completely quiet. The Skers snapped the ball and Henry kicked the hell out of it, and nailed a 57 yarder!
Their was still some time left for CU to make the comeback but don't tell Suh that! CU's ball and its 2nd and 10 to gain, Hawkins throws the ball it is tipped at the line and the ball fell right into the arms of Suh and he was off to the races, Suh wasn't touched until CU's QB thought it would be a good idea to take down a 300 pound freight train and was absolutely denied!!
All in it was an awesome to see and the better team won in dramatic fashion!

Nebraska vs Colorado pre-game
This is always a must win for Nebraska and especially the Husker Nation its a pride thing!! I've seen the Buffs play a few games this season and I think the Skers should have no problem beating em. Although I've seen Colorado play tough with some good teams like Texas for example. I know that game wasn't close or anything but CU plays tough and dont quit especially in the running game and on defense, so we don't to underestimate the Buffs and definitely not let up on them at all! The Skers need to lose some of the small mistakes and play controlled turnover free game.
My prediction is NU 35 CU 14

Nebraska vs Kansas State
The K State game was an expected win and a big win is what the Skers got. I think that the Huskers gave K State nearly every touchdown they got. The Huskers weren't perfect and have some things to work on said Bo Pelini after the game and i agree. Freeman was going to be a threat i predicted, but Nebraska's "D" line put great pressure on him and really put him on the move. That was nice to see. I thought Ganz had a pretty good game with the exception of the interception for 6 at the beginning of the game but i thought he came back nicely.
Offense
Ganz went 16 for 25 with 1 interception totalling 270 yards and 2 TD's through the air. More impressively Ganz led the rushing attack with 11 rushes for a net total of 95 yards with 2 TD's. Roy Helu Jr. was the leading rusher besides Ganz with 13 touches for 80 yards and 2 TD's. Nate Swift led the receiving attack with 4 catches for 98 yards.
Defense
Colton Koehler led the "D" with 8 total tackels. Asante, Suh, Wortman, and Lawrence all had 5 total tackles, with Suh having one sack resulting in a 15 yard loss.

Nebraska vs Kansas
This was a great win for Nebraska. Kansas isnt having quit the season they were last year but they are still playing tough and this was a crucial game to shape the 2008 season for the Huskers. I was unable to watch the game but did listen to it on the Internet until it quit working which was the end of the first half. But, from what i listen to we were playing well. The skers were tied the game late in the first half and then the Defense got the ball back and it looked like the Skers were going to march down the field and score again but unfortunately Ganz through an interception to end the half 14 to 14. I think the most exciting thing about this game other than to regain our dignity from last year is that the Huskers are bowl eligible again and winning out the rest of the season seems very likely! I would also like to comment on Suh's play against KU....Unbelievable. He pressured the QB all day, he through down blocks in the fullback position, had an interception, and he caught a pass for a touchdown.
Offense
Ganz out played Todd Reesing and had a decent game going 28 for 37 passing and throwing one interception and totalling 324 yards and 3 TD's. Lucky actually had a 4 yard TD pass as well. Nate Swift led receiving with 111 yards on 7 catches and 1 TD. Roy Helu Jr. and Todd Peterson also had decent days receiving both racking up over 60 yards a piece. Roy Helu Jr. led the rushing attack if 115 net yards on 16 rushes with 2 TD's. Helu played exceptional once again and i think Bo has found his new running back.
Defense
Suh, Ndamukong led the defensive attack with 12 total tackles and 2.5 sacks resulting in 18 yards. Allen, Pierre and O'Hanlon, Matt had decent days on the defensive side of the ball both totalling 7 tackles with Allen having a sack that resulted in a 15 yard loss

Nebraska vs Kansas pre game
I don't think that there is much to say about this game Nebraska needs to poll off the upset! The OU is long gone and it was going to be a shot in the dark that we were going to be able to play with those guys and we all know we surely didn't do that! But like I said that one is long gone NU needs this game badly!

Nebraska vs Oklahoma final
Wow I think is only word to describe this game! For those of you who didn't get to watch this game or have to watch this game the score score really doesn't illustrate the breakdown of the majority of this game. Oklahoma scored 35 points in the fist quarter. Oklahoma had a massive return in on the opening kick off and scored on the drive. Nebraska through a pick 6 on their first offensive drive. Nebraska attempts to dig themselves out of the huge hole they just dug when Ganz throws a excellently executed pass play which was conveniently fumbled after the catch. Oklahoma takes advantage of the second turnover and scores another touchdown. Oklahoma wouldn't even come close to stopping there they racked up a whopping a 35 points in the 1st quarter! Nebraska finally scored in the 2nd and actually scored as much as OU in the second with 14 points a piece. I am not sure exactly why but Nebraska had everything go wrong that they could have gone wrong in this game especially in the first 5 minutes. I dint if it was the game hype or what, but Nebraska looked like a high school team playing a top 5 team! The Skers ended up putting together some good drives and probably put together pretty good red zone stats to tell the truth, but they had no chance in stopping the high powered OU offense!
On offense Joe Ganz was 26-14 and 2 interceptions totalling 206 yards and 1 touchdown. Nate Swift didn't have the game he usually has with only 3 catches with 83 yards and 1 touchdown. Helu lead the rushing attack with 16 rushes for 165 yards and 1 touchdown.
On defense Lary Assante lead with 8 solo tackle and totalling 13 altogether.

Nebraska vs Oklahoma Pre-Game
Nebraska has season determining game this week against a very talented #4Oklahoma team. The first disadvantage NU faces is that the rivalry game is in Norman. Oklahoma is a very talented team especially offensively, but they are beatable. The defense isn't that impressive, i think the Kansas game illustrates that. Kansas was able to stay in the game until the end of the second half, they were able to put up over 30 points and a ton of yards against OU's "D". With a few defensive problems and the loss of Ryan Reynolds i feel the OU is vulnerable to the Skers offense. I feel this game will be a higher scoring game that is going to be decided by who's defense can find away to stop each others offense. NU needs to continue with no turnovers and cut down on letting the opposing team have those big plays. Go Big Red lets get the upset and take over the Big 12 North or at least keep our chances alive!

Neb vs Baylor Final
I know all the attention in set to next weeks big game against OU but lets take a look at the Baylor game. After the F-16's flew over and the crowd was getting pumped up that's when I knew it was game time in Lincoln. Nebraska came out fired up and took an early lead, but was shortly answered by Baylor. Going into half time I was discouraged to see the Huskers trailing 20-17. The "D" was the thing that worried me during the first half giving up a few big runs by Baylor's half back and their super fast QB Robert Griffin. I couldn't believe that Baylor was able to do that to us in the first half, but Bo must have set them strait at half because the defense shut them down the whole second half. The win over Baylor was an interesting one, with an NU blocked kick, a Safety, and a lot excellent hits in Baylor's back field, probably the most impressive being the massive hit dealt by Skers Pierre Allen that resulted in a 7 yard loss.
Ganz went 46-32 with no interceptions 3 TD's and 336 total passing. Nate Swift lead receiving with 11 catches for 121 yards and 2 TD's, the most impressive statistic about Swifts day being the record breaking TD catch that put him above NU's legendary Johnny Rogers for most receptions in school history. Lucky lead rushing with 16 touches gaining 85 yards, Lucky also had a few impressive catches resulting in 83 yards.
Leading the skers defense was Larry Asante with a total of 7 tackles and 1 sack. Suh also had 7 total tackles.
Overall the Huskers did what they had to do t get the win and push the record to 5-3 and keeping the big 12 north title in reach.

Nebraska vs Baylor
The Skers are coming off a big win over Iowa State and i think that they are going to roll right through Baylor as well! The game plan should be similar to the ISU game, the Skers need to: be in control, run the ball effectively to set up the pass, the "O" line needs to protect Ganz, and the "D" needs to shut the Bears down! The Baylor Bears have played a few good teams and have played some of these teams well, so lets not underestimate them and go out there and hit them in the mouth right of the bat! Let me know what you think about the outcome!!!

Iowa State Game Result
Alright well this is just what the Skers needed! A controlled well defended 35-7 win over the cyclones! The "D" woke up considerably, the running game wasn't bad and Nate Swift got the ball, and this is exactly what the Huskers needed to do to get the much needed win ad to turn this season around. The Huskers put over 200 yards on the ground, both Lucky and Casttille put up over 70 yards a piece. Ganz was 27-37 passing with no interceptions totaling 328 yards through the air; 117 of those passing yards went in Nate Swift's direction. The Huskers are continuing to cut down on penalties which was a much needed change from previous weeks. Over all the Nebraska played a well disciplined and controlled game resulting into a win.

Iowa State Game
Alright this weekend we have Iowa State. Bo and the Huskers cant take the Cyclones for granted! The are tough team that if shows up to play they can turn some heads and make some big game changing plays! I dont think thats going to happen but its key to keep in mind in the preperation for this game! Nebraska wins this game in good fashion if the whole Husker team shows up to play and if: Ganz has time to throw the ball (lets go "O" line), the defense puts on a hitting clinic, the running game finds itself and the backs fight for those extra yards (thats you #5), and last but not least the ball finds its way in the direction of Nate Swift!!
Cornhuskers win 35-21

Previous Posts:
Unfortunately the Blogger locked the blog and all previous posts were deleted. Anyone following knows the story behind the previous 5 games. The Huskers start off 3-0 until they ran in V-Tech and lost a close game that probably should have been won by Nebraska. The O-line and the defense didn't show up until the 4th quarter when the Skers started to make their comeback. Nate Swift started the came back charge for the Huskers with a punt return that ended up being the 4th longest in school history. Late in the fourth Ganz lead a strong touchdown drive that ended in the end zone in the hands of Todd Peterson leaving the Huskers only a few points behind and time to win the game. The defense held V-Tech to what everyone thought was going to be a punt situation when the sker's Suh had a controversial late hit penalty that kept V-Tech alive! After a few more penalties V-Tech put the ball in the end zone again and that pretty much ended the game.
Game 5 brought #5 Mizzou to Lincoln. The Huskers knew Missouri was going to be a tough team lead by one hell of a quarter back Chase Daniel and plenty of other offensive weapons. When the game started the Tigers stormed down and put it in the end zone. Nebraska answered right back and no problem putting the ball in the end zone but unlike Mizzou, Nebraska didn't find the scoreboard again until the end of the second when they managed a to put up a field goal. We all the game was a blow out and I credit the problems to a defense that couldn't stop anything and a O-line that could have been blown over by a 10mph wind! I will credit Bo and the Skers for not quiting, after the being blown out of the water, in the final seconds Nebraska scored another touchdown when everyone even the commentators thought they would just let the time run out.
Now for Game 6, the huskers go on the road to match up with a talented #7 Texas Tech team. What a wild finish huh? The interception at the end of the game was a little bit of a disappointment but i think it in no way overwhelms the play of the huskers throughout the whole game! Scoreless in the first, putting 7 on the board in the second, 3 in the third, and an astonishing 21 points in the fourth to put the game in OT. Tieing up the game was a 17 yard TD pass from Joe Ganz to Todd Peterson.
Then came the OT Texas Tech goes and scores and MISSES the extra point leaving it up to the Huskers to go down and score and put this upset away. Unfortunately Ganz tossed an interception to end the game. But looking at the stats NU should have took the game, the skers controlled the ball twice as long as Texas Tech. The Huskers had 29 first downs opposed to TT's 16 nearly 100 more passing yards and beat TT on total yards gained. The score doesn't show it but on paper the Huskers beat Tech to bad whats on paper doesn't count for much!
Over all good game and lets turn this into a turning point in the season for the Husker Nation!!
